This project covered two wooden decks connected by a bridge. We replaced all the old floorboards, corrected the load-bearing structure of the largest main deck with new beams and additional support posts, renewed two staircases with all their steps, and repainted every surface, including railings and stairs, in a color of the customer’s choice. The total cost was approximately $5,800 and the work took 5 days.
The Problem: Worn Decks and a Structure That Needed Correcting
The plan started as a floorboard replacement and repaint for both decks and the bridge. During the restoration it became apparent that the load-bearing structure of the largest main deck needed to be corrected.
The old beams were replaced with new ones and new support posts were added to make the structure more stable and strong. The customer ended up with an updated deck without a major capital investment.
How We Restored It — Stage by Stage
Replace the Old Floorboards
All the old boards on both decks and the bridge were removed and replaced.
Correct the Main Deck Structure
Once the floor was open, the load-bearing structure of the largest main deck was corrected: old beams were replaced with new ones and new support posts were added.
Renew Both Staircases
During the restoration we decided to renew the two staircases with all their steps.
Prepare and Paint Every Surface
After all the old elements were replaced and the new floor was laid, the surfaces were prepared and painted in a new color of the customer’s choice, including railings and stairs.
The Result
The customer received an updated deck system without a major capital investment: about $5,800 in total, finished in 5 days. The structure under the new floor is stronger than before, and everything from the decks to the bridge and stairs now matches.
